King Tut was born approximetly 1341 BCE with the name Tutankhaten, meaning "the living image of Aten". His father, Akhenhaten was king for a 17 year reign. He made Ancient Egypt go from being a polytheistic society, to a monotheistic society. He forced everyone to worship Aten, the sun disk. Aten wasn't shown in an antrhopomorhic form, he was shown simply as a circle, the globe of the sun. After his 17 year reign, Tutankhaten took over at 9 years old, around 1332 BCE. He then changed his name to Tutankhamun, menaing "the living image of Amun", and changed the society back to a polytheistic one. Tut brought back the government to the way it was before his father's reign.
Tutankhamun died, from malaria, about 10 years later in 1323. His tomb was hastily put together, making us assume he had been assassinated. What makes us believe that his tomb was hastily put together is that it was significantly smaller then the normal.
Finally, after nearly 3245 years, King Tut's tomb was found in 1922 by British archaeologist, Howard Carter. Tutankhamun was burried in the Valley of the Kings, like most of the Egyptian Pharoah's.
